Folkestone > Hythe
Distance: 5 miles
Duration: 30 minutes
Difficulty: Easy (Depends on the wind!)
Points of interest: Pebble beach, picnic spots, fishing, Royal Military Canal, street food vans
Directions
- Grab a bike from The Burlington or The Clifton Hotel and head west from Folkestone towards Hythe. If you are closer to Sandgate you can pick up a bike from the Enbrook station
- The Leas Promenade/Bandstand
- Take the trails down to the Lower Leas Coastal Park or down to Folkestone harbour where you can join National Cycling Route 2
- You will pass through Sandgate which has plenty of options for refreshments including coffee shops, pubs, fish and chips and more
- (Loaf, Orchard Lane coffee house, The Ship, Enbrook Park, Captain’s Quarters, Roka, Inn doors Micropub, Comemos deli café, Escondido, The Sandgate Hotel)
- Find somewhere you like and you can drop your bike off at the Enbrook Park bike station
- Or carry on along the sea wall through to Hythe. If the wind is in your face you might prefer to drop down onto the north side of the Military canal in Seabrook for an easier ride
- If you are in Hythe and fancy fish, try Hythe Bay restaurant or a little further on, Griggs at Fisherman’s Beach
- Watch the action out on the water from outside Hythe and Saltwood Sailing Club

Hythe > Folkestone
Distance: 12.6 miles
Duration: 1 hour 2 minutes
Difficulty: Medium
Points of interest: Pebble beach picnic spots, street food vans, Royal Military Canal, Lower Leas adventure playground, rock pools, sculpture trail (Folkestone Artworks)
Directions
- Pick up a bike from The Stade Court Hotel or Hythe RHDR Station Head East from Hythe to Folkestone
- Head onto the sea front and join National Cycling Route 2 along the sea wall.
- You will pass through Sandgate which has plenty of options for refreshments including coffee shops, pubs, fish and chips and more.

- If you find somewhere you like, you can drop your bike off at the Enbrook Park bike station.
- Carry on along the sea wall through to Folkestone,
- Lower Leas Coastal Park, Mermaid Cafe.

- Explore the Creative Quarter
- Visit Folkestone’s sculpture trail.
